Each calendar year, all facets of entertainment have watershed moments. These are big events, highly anticipated pieces of modern culture that we hope will raise the bar. In gaming, whether they wish it or not, Rockstar have become a steady provider of those moments. Red Dead Redemption 2 is shaping up to be one of the year’s biggest games. The original Red Dead Redemption managed to provide a very commercially successful game that also managed to tell a deeply human story. It is safe to say, based on the latest trailer, that the next game in the series hopes to do the same thing.
This trailer introduces us to the core human struggle of the world that Red Dead Redemption 2 inhabits. Human folly, greed and misery are all on display. It also acts as a bit of a technical showcase. The lighting, shadows and textures all look on point. For me, one of the nicest shots is at the fifty second mark. That beautiful night sky looks simply amazing. I’d go out on a limb and say that people at Rockstar have been looking at the work of Roger Deakins.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is due for release on October 26, on PS4 and Xbox One. While a PC release is almost guaranteed, after the incredible success of GTA V and GTA Online on the platform, no date has been given for its release yet.
Everyone here at TLDRGames is incredibly excited for Red Dead Redemption 2, so you can bet your last bullet that we are gonna be hitting the game hard at launch. Until then, we will do our best to keep you up with all the news as it becomes available. And of course, when the game releases we will be bringing you our usual high quality guides. Has work ever been this much fun?
