SCS Software has long been the undisputed king of trucking simulations with its long-running Euro Truck Simulator and American Truck Simulator games. But there’s a new player about to enter the field, as SOEDESCO Publishing has revealed that Triangle Studios is hard at work finishing off its new Truck Driver title, which is slated to arrive on PC and consoles in the not too distant future.

Unlike any other trucking experience, Truck Driver focuses entirely on the career mode. By focusing more on the ‘game’ aspects instead of the ‘simulation’ aspects, SOEDESCO aspires to bring the fun-factor back into the trucking genre.

SOEDESCO released a video today in which they give a look behind the scenes at developer Triangle Studios and show some of the first Truck Driver gameplay footage. In the video, they explain that Truck Driver focuses on the player’s experience as a truck driver and their interaction with the local community. Players get to meet all sorts of unique characters and build relationships with them by completing transport jobs, to fully experience the eventful career life of a trucker.

Quite frankly, I enjoy Euro Truck Simulator 2 immensely, and its simulation features and level of realism are a big reason I love it so much. However, there’s no denying that the story and career progression in that series aren’t very involved, so I’m looking forward to seeing how Truck Driver can fill that void.

We’ll keep you up-to-date on further developments of Truck Driver and will be sure to give you a full review once the game is available.
