At E3 this year, the development team behind GTFO, 10 Chambers Collective, gave people a chance to go hands-on with their upcoming horror co-op FPS for the first time. Shortly after, at the Unite Berlin conference, GTFO‘s creative director, Ulf Andersson, formerly the lead designer on PAYDAY, showcased a brand new enemy. Folks, it is scary as all hell!

GTFO’s Shadow Enemy

GTFO‘s Shadow Enemy is pretty hard to spot in screenshots because it is only visible when it’s moving in relation to surrounding light sources, such as the player’s flashlight. It’s best to check out the trailer above to see what this new enemy is all about.

The Shadow Enemy seems like the perfect monster to throw into an already intense experience. In GTFO players work together to try and survive the onslaught of enemies, and the Shadow Enemy looks poised to elicit at least a few screams in our group of co-op shooter fans.

“GTFO has an incredibly tense atmosphere where death lurks around every corner. With the Shadow enemy, death can lurk right in front of you but you can’t quite see it… It’s just one of several ways that GTFO messes with the player” says Simon Viklund, member of 10 Chambers Collective.

GTFO will be released by the end of the year, and you can find out more information on its Steam page.
