Bungie is currently deploying the patch that will begin Year 2 for Destiny 2 but they’re already looking beyond the launch to Forsaken and the remainder of the year. A new roadmap has been released featuring free seasonal and paid annual pass content. Among the free content, Guardians can soon expect to wield heavy machine guns again.

The new roadmap outlines the rough timeframe and content of updates coming to Destiny 2 over the coming year. Content updates are split into two categories; seasonal content updates, which are free for all Destiny 2 owners, and annual pass content updates which require the purchase of the annual pass.

Seasonal Content Updates

The free seasonal updates start in December with the release of Season of the Forge, which includes the second iteration of The Dawning event and adds heavy machine guns and other new weaponry.

In the spring of next year, we can expect the Season of the Drifter, which includes more new weapons, crucible content, and a yet to be announced event.

Finally, in the summer of 2019, Bungie will introduce the Season of the <Redacted>, a season that is yet to be revealed. Aside from getting a load of new content and an event, Bungie has been tight-lipped so far.

Annual Pass Content Updates

The annual pass content updates begin with the Black Armory update in December of 2018. A new Black Armory will give access to “Weapons of Light and Fury.” A new Forges of the Chain activity will be added, alongside new exotics and a raid lair.

In the spring of 2019, the Joker’s Wild content update will add new activities, changes to Gambit, and more triumphs and exotics.

Finally, in the summer of 2019, annual pass holders will get the Penumbra content update, which adds another raid lair and yet another new experience. More details to come on this as Year 2 progresses.
