New Pokémon Meltan Discovered in Pokémon GO

A brand new Pokémon has been discovered in Pokemon GO. Help Professor Willow gather more information on this new Pokémon, Meltan.

Over the weekend during the Pokémon GO Community Day, a strange new Pokémon made an appearance.

What trainers have been calling Nutbolt, due to the shape of its head, would turn in to a Ditto once you caught it. Other trainers reported Nutbolt turning in to Chirokita as well.

This morning through a series of tweets from the official Pokémon and Pokémon GO account, it was revealed that in fact, the new Pokémon was Meltan. Even a new video confirmed that with the combined efforts of Professor Oak and Professor Willow. Somehow Professor Oak already knew this Pokémon existed though.

What is Meltan

Meltan is a Steel-type Pokémon that was initially discovered in Pokémon GO and will be featured in Pokémon Let’s GO Pikachu and Pokémon Let’s GO Eevee. Meltan also can use Electric-type moves as it generates electricity with the help of its metal body.

As of right now, Meltan is only available in Pokémon GO and may only be used in Pokémon Let’s GO Pikachu and Pokémon Let’s GO Eevee once you have transferred Meltan from Pokémon GO to Let’s GO.

It’s fascinating to see new Pokémon introduced through Pokémon GO and how they will shape the world of the game in the future and the shape of Let’s GO.
