Dreadnought, the free-to-play game that pits assorted spaceships against each other, is out now on Steam. Developed by Six Foot Yager, and published by Grey Box, the game plays like an interesting take on World of Tanks. Ships of various sizes, speeds, and strengths, battle it out over the course of a round. I played it quite early in the Beta, so honestly couldn’t say much about how the game stands now. I did have a fun time though and enjoyed the challenges of positioning and movement that most of the games boiled down to.

Dreadnought is about one thing: team-based, capital ship combat. It’s a free-to-play shooter that puts you at the center of battles in space and above the surfaces of colonies across the solar system. But it’s not just you and your guns against the world. You have your teammates—outlaw captains like yourself—and a range of ballistic weaponry, Goliath nuclear torpedoes, and long-range Tesla cannons to fill out your earth-shaking arsenal.

Depending on what you want from a game, you may find Dreadnought either exhilarating or boring. There is pretty much a play style for everyone though, from those who like to fly massive ships that can tank damage, to the smaller, faster-moving attack craft. There are even ships that are basically snipers, sitting in the back of the map, trying to dodge the smaller ships that are so lethal to them, while sending massive arcs of deadly energy across the map.

With it being free-to-play, there is little reason not to download it and see if it is your cup of tea. For people who have been enjoying things like Warthunder, World of Tanks, and other similar games, you might find something here that you like, wrapped up in a more sci-fi based skin that might just keep you interested.
