According to an analyst, PlayStation 5 dev kits “are out there” and first software houses are already working on games tailored for the next-generation of consoles.
The analyst, Daniel Ahmad (ZhugeEX on ResetEra), shared a few interesting pieces of information on the matter through the forums.
“PS5 dev kits are out there, and I’ve heard positive things about it,” he said, even though he “wouldn’t expect any information in the immediate future.”
“In general, most of the focus for Sony 1P is on PS5 right now. It is still early to talk about next gen but I imagine we’ll hear some whispers come out of GDC.”
Interestingly, he added that there are still a couple of new games from already existing intellectual properties in the making at Sony studios.
“Sony also has a couple of unannounced games (already existing IP) with PS4 in mind but I’m conscious that there have been discussions around making them cross gen/next gen titles.”
Considering there’s a rumored SOCOM game in the making, it could be one of those, although for the second it’s still very up in the air (like a God of War 2, or a Spider-Man 2, or a Horizon 2).
PS5 is expected to release in 2020, so we’re entirely in line by looking at the reported status of development kits.
