According to the latest rumors, the next Assassin’s Creed game should be coming in 2020 and set in the Ancient Rome.

The rumor, indeed, is coming from 4chan and has already been sort of debunked by Kotaku’s Jason Schreier, but it’s interesting and worth reporting in our opinion.

Based on this intel, the game should release in 2020 and be codenamed “Legion.” It would be the first Assassin’s Creed cross-gen title, so both for PS4/Xbox One and PS5/Xbox Scarlett.

It would be set in Italy, more precisely in the Ancient Rome, under Marcus Aurelius and during the struggles of his son Commodus and the year of 5 emperors.

The players would take the role of Cassius or Lucia, descendent of characters from Origin and Odyssey, and would face once again heavy RPG elements and choices.

The game assassins and politics with first civ and flashbacks to other points in Rome history being secondary, and have a bigger AC vibe while retaining what made Odyssey so appreciated. It would be coming with a revised mercenary and cultist system, too.

The map would be mainland Italy with small part of Gaul and Germania, similarly to what happened between Egypt and Libya in Origins.

Legion would be in the making at Ubisoft Sofia, the developer behind Assassin’s Creed Liberation, and would be the final part of the “Ancient Trilogy”.

As said, this is just a rumor and has found any confirm in any other reliable source.

Anyway, it’s worth noting this is the second to point at Ancient Rome as the main location for the next AC, so we could starting looking at something relatively close to the truth here.
