Halo Infinite could be closer to Fortnite than we originally thought, and not through the implementation of a battle royale mode.

According to head of trans-media Halo experiences at 343 Industries, Kiki Wolfkill, the game could feature a live service model.

That’s of course a reference to how 343 Industries will manage the flux of additional content releasing post launch.

“We have to be able to change content quickly,” Wolfkill said at the Fortune‘s Brainstorm Design conference.

“We can’t afford to wait three years every time we drop a new product and have it be a black box because the games kids are playing are changing every week.”

It’s clearly a reference to Fortnite and all the other games that, thanks to multiple ‘seasons’, are able to completely revamp their look and feel after the original launch.

It’ll be important for Halo to learn to do something like that in order to stay relevant to the newest generations of gamers out there, and this effort is kicking off with the foundation of the engine SlipSpace.

Will Halo Infinite be already capable of doing so? We’ll learn more at E3 2019 this June.
