Mortal Kombat and Injustice creator Ed Boon has revealed that he has talked to Marvel in the past to build a game about its universe and characters.

Anyway, it didn’t spark a new game as the license for such a title, as you might know, has been sold to Capcom.

When asked about whether he had ever talked to Marvel for a game, he said “yes” and that he “probably shouldn’t talk about it.”

He did confirm he was excited about making a game like that, as “we would love to make a Marvel fighting game.”

In a rapid-fire interview with Game Informer, anyway, Boon did share another exciting piece of news or at least a desire of his.

The legendary developer would indeed love to make a game about Marvel characters fighting against DC characters.

The idea is not new to video games, but sure enough these days it would be huge in terms of both gameplay possibility and commercially.

Of course, it doesn’t confirm anything — it’s just Boon saying he would love such a game to be released anytime in the future.

“It’d be the coolest, (…) that would be cool,” he replied, with the interviewer claiming it would be like a race between NetherRealm and TT Games.

If you want to hear these words coming from the man himself, you can check the last couple minutes in the Game Informer interview.
