PewDiePie signs an exclusive live streaming contract with blockchain live streaming platform, DLive

Famous YouTube personality and account owner with the highest subscriber count, PewDiePie, is changing his course of live streaming and giving it a try through a new blockchain-based platform known as DLive, he announced on his channel yesterday. DLive shared details about the partnership through a press release, which you can read here.

DLive wants to give more back to the content creators more than other platforms do, claiming that many of these websites claim nearly 50 percent of a content creator’s earned income. Instead of going down this route, they decided on a new economy known as Value-Sharing Content-Economy. There are three pillars to this structure: a rewards system for content creators and viewers, decentralized ownership of the content created on their platform, and zero platform cuts. They break it down that content creators receive 90.1 percent of their earnings, whereas the website only keeps 9.9 percent of it, which is better than what they’re claiming other platforms take.

Viewers and content creators are earning the blockchain’s Cryptocurrency, known as Lino, as they interact with one another during a live stream. DLine’s website contains additional information about LINO points on their website. There’s also a full page dedicated to breaking down what the viewers earn as they watch, chat, and gift to the content creator.

Felix Kjellberg, PewDiePew’s real name, is excited about the opportunity.

“I’m excited to start live streaming again regularly! DLive is great for me because I’m treated like a real partner, just like all of the other streamers on DLive’s unique platform,” Felix Kjellberg commented in his video on April 9.

Kjellberg’s first live stream kicks off on DLive this Sunday, April 14, at 10 am PST and 6 pm GMT. The exclusive contract will have Kjellberg live streaming every week.
