During the recent earnings call with investors and analysts at Activision Blizzard, Blizzard president J. Allen Brack took some time to focus on things that concern the fans of the studio lately.
Brack shared that, despite what people might be getting to believe, the company is working on “PC and console releases” on top of “a couple of mobile initiatives,” that has been highly criticized like Diablo Immortal because it is not in the DNA of the original team.
“This is an important topic for everyone, and it’s super important to me personally. I said consistently that the Blizzard pipeline is larger and richer than ever before. It includes PC and console releases,” he said.
“It includes ongoing content for World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Hearthstone and a couple of mobile initiatives. It’s critical that all of these products meet the Blizzard quality that we’re known for. We want to give the teams the space to really create excellence and release games at better and more consistent kids.”
Also, Brack wanted to remark that, despite the recent layouts that have sparked a lot of concern both in the industry and the media, Blizzard’s “developer headcount” has been “increased” in the “last quarter.”
“The teams are highly motivated. We feel we’ve got a lot to prove, both to our players and to ourselves,” he added.
Whether this is to be believed or not, we’ll leave it to you. In the meantime, it is worth noting that BlizzCon has been confirmed for November 1 and 2, but the studio won’t attend Gamescom for the first time in years.
