Shiny Aipom added to Pokémon Go to coincide with Detective Pikachu event

Look out for that pink monkey, trainers!

To celebrate the launch of the Detective Pikachu movie this week, Niantic is hosting a special in-game event in Pokémon Go that comes with a bunch of Pokemon, raids, merch, and one special shiny offering.

That’s right folks, Niantic has added a Shiny Aipom into the game to coincide with the event and follows the previous trend of Shiny Pokémon also added into the game. Seel and Buneary were recent additions over April.

Anyone looking to get themselves a shiny monkey, however, will need to pray that luck is on their side. There is a less than 0.5 percent chance of finding a Shiny in the wild so you’ll need to click on a lot of Aipoms to hopefully eventually find one.

Those who don’t, however, will be happy to know that there are more rare Pokemon on the horizon for a limited time only. A special Detective Pikachu is available to find through the photo mode.

There are also exclusive avatar items, raids, and field research awards being offered until May 17, so there is plenty to do while searching for the elusive shiny Aipom.
