A surprise announcement arrived from Nintendo today, as they tweeted that the next Nintendo Direct would be coming on May 15, and it is all about Mario Maker 2.

Set to air at 00:00 CEST/3pm PT/6pm ET, it will run for 15 minutes and will feature a presentation packed with information about Mario Maker 2. Mario Maker 2 is the sequel to the original game that launched on the Wii U in 2015. It allowed players to create their own levels, using elements from previously released Mario games.

The game was a huge success, and some of the levels that people built were spirit-crushing in their difficulty. Some 7 million levels were created, and played over 600 million times. An adapted port of the game was then released for 3DS in 2016. People have been eagerly awaiting news on the new version for the Switch, and it looks like we are finally going to get it.
