Back at E3 2018, Bethesda revealed two brand new games that were quite a surprise: Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI. The label was quick in pointing out that those were just teasers and that production would require lots of years to wrap up.

That is reflecting in the fact that we won’t see any of them at E3 2019 this year, at least as stated in March by Todd Howard. And the very same Todd Howard discussed the topic of the brand new IP coming sooner rather than later and definitely releasing before The Elder Scrolls VI.

“You have this Starfield game in your head, you sort of say, well, when? It can be never, you could say never But look, we’re creatives, and it’s like we have to make this game, and this is the time. So Elder Scrolls 6 is going to have to wait a little bit,” he said.

Rumors claim that Starfield has been in the making for much longer than The Elder Scrolls VI – its development is hinted at having started even in 2015 – so it makes sense, although it’s weird to see Bethesda Game Studios taking another risk after launching Fallout 76, which was so different in comparison with the previous titles from the developer.

It’s the first new intellectual property to come out of BGS in over 20 years, so there’s a lot of curiosity for its launch. All that we know is it’s going to be a next-generation RPG and that it’ll be a sci-fi one, so again really different from the loop The Elder Scrolls-Fallout the dev had fallen into.
