Google have announced the price structure for Google Stadia, and the Founder Edition.
Google used today’s Stadia stream to reveal the price and launch date of their game streaming service. Stadia will launch in November and will cost $9.99 a month for the Pro subscription. The initial launch will cover 14 countries. A second subscription option will arrive sometime in 2020, and will allow streaming in 1080p for free, but will not include any free games.
The subscription to the service will provide access to games such as Destiny 2, The Division 2, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and Doom, but only older titles will be covered by the subscription, and new games need to purchased individually. The service will launch in the below listed countries.
At launch, you will need Google’s Chromecast to run Stadia, but it will function in the future with any Google device that runs Chrome. There will also be a founders edition, available for $129, that will include Google’s gamepad, a Chromecast Ultra, Destiny 2, and three months subscription to the service. You will also get a “buddy pass” that gives a 3 month subscription to a friend, and other Stadia controllers can be purchased for $69. Founders will be the first people to experience Stadia, and will also be the first to register their gamertag on the service. They also confirmed that you can transfer your characters in Destiny 2 from other platforms.
The service will allow people to stream games to their device of choice and play them there, with all the computing being done at Google’s end. The system will support resolutions up the 4K, and 60FPS gaming, if the user has access to a 35mbps connection. The minimum requirement to use the service will be a 10mbps down, 1mbps up connection.
