The new Borderlands 2 DLC, Commander Lilith & The Fight For Sanctuary, will act as a bridge between Borderlands 2 and the upcoming Borderlands 3, linking the events of both games together. The DLC very briefly appeared on Steam, before being removed. Despite the Steam removal, people over at Resetera managed to snag the DLC’s description before someone removed it.

Return to the award winning shooter-looter for a new adventure that sets the stage for the upcoming Borderlands 3. Sanctuary is under siege, the Vault’s map has been stolen and a toxic gas is poisoning Pandora. Fight new bosses, explore new zones, get new loot (including an entirely new tier beyond Legendary) and join up with Lilith and the Crimson Raiders to take on a deranged villain hell-bent on ruling the planet.

The new DLC will feature new bosses, playable areas, plenty of new guns and loot, and will be free. As for how the stories will connect, it would seem that this may be the story of how the new hub area in Borderlands 3 comes to be, as that is called Sanctuary 3. As such, we may end up witnessing the destruction of the town of Sanctuary in Borderlands 2. It also seems that the level cap will be increased to 80, while newcomers can automatically boost to level 30 and dive straight into the new content.

While there was no mention of the DLC arriving on console on the Steam listing, it seems evident that the new DLC will show up on Xbox One and PS4 as well. There is little point in bridging the story between the old and new Borderlands and only doing it for one part of the player base.

So, while it seems the new Borderlands 2 DLC is very much real, information is still thin on the ground. As we learn more, we will keep you updated.
