A Japanese-language post on Atlus’ website says that the developer has no plans to port Persona 5 Royal to any platforms other than PS4.
Persona 5 Royal developer Atlus put a damper on fans’ hopes of seeing the game on other platforms today. A Resetera user translated a Japanese-language post on the game’s FAQ confirming that the developer has no plans to port the game at this time. The fact that they’ve even addressed this in the FAQ suggests that the developer has been asked about it quite often.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that Persona 5 won’t come to other consoles in any form. Persona 5 Royal is a port of the original game with some enhanced features, including new characters and locations. One of those characters was just showcased yesterday in a new trailer for the game.
Rumors of a Persona 5 port for the Switch have been swirling for some time, only to be crushed by the recent announcement of Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers. Rather than a turn-based RPG like the core Persona games, Persona 5 Scramble is a brawler made by Omega Force, the developer of Dynasty Warriors. That’s not to say that plenty of people aren’t excited about the game’s announcement, but it’s a far cry from what fans have been clamoring for.
