Microsoft’s press conference revealed a new trailer for Ori and the Will of the Wisps, along with its new release date, next February. The game will launch of Xbox One and PC and be available on Game Pass.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps, the sequel to 2015’s Ori and the Blind Forest, has been confirmed for a February 11, 2020 release at Microsoft’s E3 press conference. The game will be available only on PC and Xbox One. It will also get added to the Game Pass at launch. The release date came at the end of a new gameplay trailer.
Ori and the Blind Forest, from Austrian developer Moon Studios, was hailed as one of the best platformers of the generation, and its sequel is looking like a worthy follow-up. It doesn’t seem to do much to shake up the original’s formula, instead of doubling down on its widely praised gameplay while giving your character new powers, such as the ability to dig and fire arrows, to make traversal and combat even more satisfying. Like the original, Ori and the Will of the Wisps will send you through several beautiful environments, such as enchanted forests, and caves. The art style looks like a refinement of the original, which was already an incredibly beautiful game.
The new gameplay trailer also showed off a lava-strewn landscape and an underwater area, as well as some massive, terrifying beasts. These could be boss fights, or more likely, enemies that chase you through their turf as you try to escape.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps was first confirmed at E3 2017 and piqued our interest with a beautiful gameplay trailer at last year’s E3.
