Strategy is a big part of raids, and Dynamaxing got a little more complicated.
Dynamax Pokémon are going to be a big part of Pokémon Sword and Shield, but how they work in Max Raid Battles has been left up in the air for a while now.
Apparently, players will have the option to Dynamax their Pokémon raids, but the ability will rotate between players each turn.
Once a player has Dynamaxed their Pokémon, the ability will be gone for the rest of the battle, meaning between the four trainers competing in the raid, only one Pokémon can be Dynamaxed. Players can also only bring a single Pokémon into the raid battle, so strategically picking which creature you bring along with your teammates will be extremely important.
Trainers can select the Pokémon they want to bring from either their party or box, but once locked in, they will not be able to change the selection. Dynamaxing a Pokémon can sometimes give them the ability to use multiple moves too, though that aspect of the game hasn’t been shown much.
The main thing to focus on here is that the player who has the ability to Dynamax will rotate each turn, adding another point that trainers will have to strategize around during the battle.
Pokémon Sword and Shield will release on Nov. 15 for Nintendo Switch.
