A few hours after storms caused players attending Pokémon GO Fest Chicago 2019 to evacuate the event area, Niantic announced that attendees with Saturday event passes would get an extra bonus for their troubles.

Players spent around two hours waiting out the severe weather warning and wondering if they would get to head back to catch more Pokémon.

Niantic kept fans updated with timely tweets about the situation, and once the storms cleared up, they made sure fans knew that their team running the festival were working with Chicago city officials to get the event area ready for reopening. By 3:30 pm CT, players will be back out with their friends, catching, trading, and battling on Pokémon GO.

As a bonus, players who have a Pokémon GO Fest Chicago 2019 Saturday ticket will get to see increased appearances of event Pokémon next Saturday – June 22 from 9 am to 7 pm in whatever their local time is. That means Pokémon like Machop, Horsea, Lapras, Lotad, Ralts, Mawile, Absol, and others will have higher spawn rates for those players for another full day.

As it is every year, players can also complete any Special Research tasks that they were doing during the event after the festival has ended and still receive the full rewards.
