The DLC, which has its first release on the day of the game’s launch, will consist of a mixture of characters, battle maps, costumes, and quests as well as story content and locations. Purchasing the game now also unlocks Byleth: Tested Professor to use in Fire Emblem Heroes, an added incentive who play the series mobile title.
The new game, which was announced in a Nintendo Direct in January 2017, will be the sixteenth game in the long-running series and the first to be on a home console since Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn in 2007 on the Wii. The series is being co-developed with Koei Tecmo, responsible for the Dynasty Warriors and other Warrior spin-off games, for the first time. However, Koei Tecmo’s brand of action is not expected here, and the game will be the tactical role-playing that is standard for the Fire Emblem series.
The DLC Packs will come in four waves, and consist of (with release dates):
Wave 1, Launch Day: Officers Academy outfits for female and male Byleth
Wave 2, October 31st: Additional Auxiliary battle maps, helpful in-game support items, and more
Wave 3, December 31st: Additional quests and costumes; plus, another free update
Wave 4, April 30th 2020: Discover new story content, with additional playable characters, locations and more; plus, another free update
Fire Emblem: Three Houses is due for release on July 26th for Nintendo Switch.
