Nintendo Switch Lite Has A Slightly Longer Battery Life, Only thirty minutes more than the base Switch, Nintendo claims, depending on what game you’re playing, you can get 3-7 hours of game time out of the Lite.
While the Switch Lite is generally a stripped back and cheaper model to the original Switch, offering fewer features, undetachable joycons, no kickstand, and is undockable, in keeping with its mobile design it does have longer battery life.
Only thirty minutes more than the base Switch, Nintendo claims, depending on what game you’re playing, you can get 3-7 hours of game time out of the Lite. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, for example, will get you only 4 hours. An improvement to be sure, but it’s still a bit disappointing for a handheld specific device. Anyone with a long commute may have to charge their Lite before the return journey.
An important thing to note, for anyone considering purchasing a Switch Lite, not all Switch games will be available to Lite owners. Only games that can be played in “handheld mode,” which can be seen at the back of the game box, are compatible.
Seeing as the entire point of the Nintendo Switch is the ability to switch to handheld mode, this shouldn’t be too much of a problem, but double-check any of those games you’ve got your eye one before you commit.
The Nintendo Switch Lite is available this year, 20th September for $199.99.
