The new Borderlands 3 “So Happy Together” is about celebrating the love that a person can have for a heavy-duty firearm. The trailer shows various characters from the game visiting unleashing destruction on the world around them to the soothing tones of The Turtles’ “So Happy Together.”

The trailer itself is more artistic hype generation than anything else with the release date for the game getting closer. The trailer ends with a literal rain of loot and weapons, seemingly designed to remind those who forgot that you would be able to get a whole load of different guns in the game. The trailer leans into the goofiness Borderlands series widely recognized for having. There’s also the default psychedelia that companies opt for when they need to be visually striking, but have limited new information to reveal.

Borderlands 3 releases on Sept. 13, but the run-up to release has not been without controversy. There’s the six-month exclusivity deal with the Epic Game Store that caused some rifts with PC players. There was a wedge between Randy Pitchford and the original voice actor for Claptrap, leading to a lot of negative headlines. Additionally, there are accusations of assault geared towards the Gearbox President and CEO.

Still, Borderlands 3 is mostly expected to sell in line with the series usual number. Borderlands fans seem to love the games. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to it myself, as I have traditionally had a fun time with the games in the past.
