Marvel’s Avengers has been the protagonist of a panel at San Diego Comic-Con over the last few hours but, as we’ve reported back in the days of the announcement, the gameplay demo shown over there has not been made public.

Of course, that gameplay demo has managed to leak some way, thanks to someone in the attendance, and we have a chance to give it a look. It’s a bit rough but sure enough much better than the leaks at E3 2019, so you can get a clearer idea of what’s going on in there.

As you might recall, the demo is set on the A-Day, when an accident occurs when Avengers are celebrating the opening of a new building in the San Francisco area. In the video, you can give an early look at gameplay with Thor and Iron Man, who’s capable of flying over the zone.

The demo is set at the beginning of the game, so it’ll be the first time you play as the Avengers, and the level itself is built to guide you across the control of the superheroes and their abilities.

“After you finish the Prologue, the world opens up and using a reclaimed Helicarrier as your base of operations, you’ll launch single-player and co-op missions in hotspots around the globe,” said Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics at the panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

Interestingly, at the same panel, the pair has shared that they will make the gameplay video from the demo public the week after Gamescom, where they’re going to show it once again only to press and trade.

Gamescom is taking place in Koln from August 19 to August 24, so the week next to those dates will be when you’ll get to have the chance to watch the first public gameplay demo of Marvel’s Avengers. We don’t know the reason behind all this secrecy but looks like the dev team needs time to polish it up as much as possible.

The game is releasing on May 20, 2020, for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
