Niantic has revealed that Team Go Rocket has turned more Pokémon into Shadow Pokémon in Pokémon Go. Players can now get new Shadow Pokémon after Team Rocket battles.

In a recent update in Pokémon Go, players are given a chance to encounter Team Go Rocket Grunts at grey PokéStop. You can fight these grunts in a 3v3 Pokémon match. If you win, you are rewarded with one of the grunts’ Shadow Pokémon.

Shadow Pokémon are special Pokémon that are surrounded by evil, black aura. These Shadow Pokémon know the move Frustration. You can “purify” Shadow Pokémon with Stardust and Candies, and the move Frustration is replaced with Return.

When Shadow Pokémon were first released, only a select few Pokémon were Shadow Pokémon. Today Niantic revealed that even more Pokémon can now be Shadow Pokémon. Team Go Rocket has been corrupting more Pokémon species after facing heavy losses. That means even more Pokémon can now be Shadow Pokémon.

The list of new Shadow Pokémon are the following:

  • Poliwag
  • Grimer
  • Muk
  • Drowzee
  • Hypno
  • Cubone
  • Scyther
  • Magikarp
  • Houndour
  • Houndoom

Ralts, who will be the focus of this month’s community day, will also be a Shadow Pokémon. Shadow Ralts will come at a later date than the others. Serebii also reports that Shadow Pokémon can’t learn Community Days moves unless it is purified before it evolves. The new Shadow Pokémon are available now.
