Pokémon Masters has had an impressive first-day launch; it is the #1 game on the iPhone in terms of downloads in 27 countries.

Pokémon Masters is the latest Pokémon mobile game released by the Pokémon Company. Masters is developed and published by DeNA, a company who has had their hands with other Nintendo mobile properties like Fire Emblem Heroes and Mario Kart Tour.

Pokémon has had several mobile titles over the years, though quintessentially their biggest mobile title is without a doubt Pokémon Go. Released in 2016, Go became an almost instant worldwide hit, and continues to be one of the best performing mobile titles in the market. Go’s main feature is finding and capturing Pokémon in the real world, using players’ cameras on their phones.

Pokémon Masters is much different than Go; not only do you need to collect Pokémon in Masters you also need to gather different trainers. The Pokémon franchise has plenty of iconic Pokémon trainers, and now you can have them join your collection. Each trainer has their own Pokémon, and you can level them to be extra powerful.

While it may still be too early to tell if Masters will have the same success as Go, it had a perfect launch day. VentureBeat was the first to report that Masters is number #1 for iPhone downloads in 27 countries, and that includes the USA and Japan, arguably two of the game’s biggest market.

VentureBeat also reports that the revenue for the game on iPhones is number #1 in Japan and Hong Kong, although only number 12 in the USA.

No data based on Pokémon Masters on Android devices has been reported at the time of the writing this.
