As you might recall, people have never appreciated the decision by CD Projekt RED to offer Cyberpunk 2077 with a first person perspective. That’s mainly because fans of the Polish studio have got to know it thanks to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which was in third person, so they thought they would be getting a similar experience to that beloved game.

That’s mainly because fans of the Polish studio have got to know it thanks to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which was in the third person, so they thought they would be getting a similar experience to that beloved game.
Anyway, after quite some time from the initial backlash, here we go again with CDPR being forced to clarify its position about the first-person perspective, due to some customer service revealing that cut-scenes and sex scenes would be presented in first-person all over the game.
“Achieving full immersion in an FPP game is extremely important, and the decision made by the team to go 100% first person in Cyberpunk 2077 is something that will benefit it greatly from gameplay and story-telling perspectives,” said global community lead Marcin Momot on Twitter.

In a second tweet, though, he wanted to make sure that people know that “players will still be able to see their characters in the inventory screen, during driving sequences, in mirrors and, very occasionally, in some of the cut-scenes.”
So, it’s not like you won’t ever see the influence of your decisions, both ethical or simply about the clothing, on the characters you create; it’s just about design and letting developers free to build the game they feel grants them, and us gamers, with the highest degree of freedom possible.
Cyberpunk 2077 is launching on April 16, 2020, for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. It’s also “coming soon” to Google Stadia.
