Unannounced Splinter Cell “Tenth Release” Spotted At GameStop

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

We’ve been waiting for a new Splinter Cell game for ages, and it doesn’t look like there are many chances for a reveal anytime soon. However, there’s someone who doesn’t really seem to believe that, as GameStop has a likely hint about a tenth iteration in the franchise coming relatively close.

We’ve been waiting for a new Splinter Cell game for ages, and it doesn’t look like there are many chances for a reveal anytime soon. However, GameStop doesn’t seem to feel that way as it’s hinting at a potential tenth iteration of the franchise coming out soon.

That hint is seemingly hidden, not so stealthily, in the product description of the Sam Fisher replica goggles. These are now available for pre-order on the official website of the video games retailer.

“For the first time since the introduction of Splinter Cell in 2002, after nine top-selling AAA+ titles, and with the 10th release on the horizon, this is your first chance to own Sam Fisher’s signature Ultra High-Frequency Sonar Goggles,” reads the description.

Unfortunately, the listing has been removed and is not available anymore. GameSpot handled it, but Reddit users have been able to take a screengrab of the page to detail the description of the goggles.

It’s worth noting that this could be a mistake by the copywriting team that may have been too optimistic about a “10th release on the horizon.” The listing could return soon once the error gets fixed. Or it could not, and that would mean that something got revealed too early.
