Overwatch is coming to the Nintendo Switch. It’s arriving on Oct. 15, which is in a month. This port is going to bring the first-person competitive shooter game for the first time in a handheld mode.

Community manager Nazih Fares shared the first details about the game’s performance on Nintendo Switch. Fares also shared which is going to be the developer of this new version – that is not going to be worked (at least not entirely) internally at Blizzard.

“We worked closely with Iron Galaxy to bring the game to Switch,” said Fares when asked about who’s working on this newest version of the FPS. “They’ve been a great partner to work within the development process.”

Iron Galaxy is known for its work on ports, which include triple-A titles getting ported over Nintendo Switch. Among those, we can find Skyrim, Diablo III, Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.

Also, in terms of performance, we have some first particulars about how Overwatch is running on Nintendo Switch. It’s coming with a 900p resolution on TV mode and 720p in handheld mode. However, it is going for a 30fps only frame rate – half the frame rate of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

That could be a bit disappointing, but sure enough, it’s the cost to have a stable gameplay experience on both the modes. We can get why Blizzard is so careful when it comes to talking about cross-play, as 30fps will make it for a very different game on Switch.
