Team Ninja showed off a new trailer for Nioh 2 at the Tokyo Game Show 2019
Get ready for another adventure with Team Ninja as the development team show off their latest trailer for Nioh 2 at the Tokyo Game Show, revealed earlier today. The trailer showed off a handful of terrifying bosses players are going to encounter, and even a female player character.
The Nioh series a Dark Souls-like title, where players have to dodge devastating attacks from enemies, fight powerful bosses, and endure grueling gameplay mechanics to survive. Should a player die, they lose all of the experience points, Amrita, and then have to return to where they died to retrieve the Amrita. Should they die on the way, all of their experience points disappear, and they’re going to have to return to killing enemies to get more.
The first title takes place in 1600 and players assume the role of William, an individual hired by Queen Elizabeth I to secure the sacred Amrita, a golden stone found in Japan. When he returns, he’s captured by the crown to keep the essence a secret. He escapes thanks to the assistance of a water spirit, which gives him the ability never to die and to continually resurrect.
Previously, Nioh 2 was set to release sometime towards the end of 2019. But at the end of the trailer, we see the development team has pushed this expectation back and are set to finish the game sometime in early 2020. We haven’t seen too much from the title, and there’s plenty of other games to check out while we wait for it. Plus, we’d love to learn more about the female protagonist in this trailer, and if players are going to get the opportunity to use a character creation process, or if there are multiple main characters.
We’ll learn more in the future. You can check out the full trailer below at your leisure.
Nioh 2 is set to release sometime in early 2020 on the PlayStation 4.
