A brand new Pokémon anime series has been officially revealed in Japan earlier today and reintroduces Ash and Pikachu, alongside a new trainer called Go and his Scorbunny partner.

The new anime series got teased for some time now with posters and key art for the series “leaked” a few days ago. They showed Ash with a new look and a new mystery trainer alongside a Scorbunny partner.

The name “Go” is an obvious nod to Pokémon Go, works well, considering the anime will focus on the two trainers exploring the world. It’s similar to how Pokémon Go players travel the world to capture Pokémon on their mobile devices.

The duo will travel far and wide, visiting locations from Kanto to the newly discovered Galar region. All to be the very best like no one ever was. Although further details of the anime are unknown, don’t expect it to take place in the Galar region entirely.

The animators are taking a different approach this time around with the anime. So expect something akin to the old Pokémon Generations story, if anything, with different stories taking place in all the central regions with a diverse cast of characters each time.
