Sony has finally announced that the long-anticipated PS4 firmware update 7.0 will be available tomorrow, October 8.

The update is a major one, introducing several improvements to the things you use the most on your console. First off, the maximum number of party users has been increased from 8 to 16; on top of that, the network connectivity and audio quality have been improved.

PlayStation has also worked on the remote play side of things, finally deploying its PS4 Remote Play App on the Google Play Store and making it available on Android 5.0 or higher devices. The app was an iOS exclusive until now.

Interestingly, the remote play application has also been improved on iOS devices, explicitly allowing players to have their controllers displayed all the time in the touch version and the screen orientation locked.

So, considering we’re at the end of the generation and most of the things that people required/needed have been fixed or deployed, it’s a good update that allows players to have a better and more in-depth interaction with their console.

On top of that, those features will most likely return for PS5, so the work done on that is sure enough not wasted.
