When Human Head Studios closed its doors, Bethesda moved in and assisted in creating the newly created Roundhouse Studios
Bethesda announced it has created a new studio, Roundhouse Studios, after bringing all of the developers from the recently closed Human Head Studios. When they closed up shop, Bethesda moved in with the assist to round up the entire team there and get them working under a new umbrella.
Human Head is known for projects such as the original Prey (and, before it was cancelled, Prey 2), Rune, The Quiet Man, and Rune 2, which released on Nov. 12. The team also assisted with projects like Batman: Arkham Origins, BioShock Infinite, Brink, and Dungeon Defenders II.
Chris Rhinehart, previously the co-founder of Human Head and now the creative director at Roundhouse, spoke about pulling away from work at Human Head. When things were starting to look grim for the company, they sought out Bethesda.
“Sadly, we had to wind down the business of Human Head Studios and close its doors, which was particularly devastating due to the passion and creativity of the team we’d assembled,” Rhinehart said. “We reached out to our friends at Bethesda for help, and they saw that same creativity and passion in our team. With the formation of Roundhouse Studios, Bethesda offered every employee of Human Head a position at the new company.”
The Roundhouse Studios team will assist Bethesda with unannounced projects, and we may even see the return of the team’s Prey 2 title, given Bethesda published the game’s reboot, developed by Arkane Studios, in 2017.
They’re going to be working out of Madison, Wisconsin, for the foreseeable future.
