The last weekend was a crowded and busy one for video games, as two major titles released upon the very same day: Pokémon Sword & Shield and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Which of those sold the most? We get a sneak peek on that thanks to UK sales, thanks to VGC.

The first big news is that Pokémon has beaten Star Wars, but it’s a bit more nuanced than that. Pokémon Sword claimed the first spot in the chart, while Jedi Fallen Order the second. Pokémon Shield instead ended up in third place, which means that Star Wars kind of lost and won over Pokémon at the same time, if you think about that.

Pokémon Sword and Shield: Dual Edition, with both the games included in one package, also entered the top ten with a seventh place. The other new entry in the top 40 was Terminator Resistance, but only at the number 38.
It’s worth noting that UK sales only account for physical copies and not digital, which were hugely important when it came to Sun and Moon. Also, it’s good to remark that only multi-platform games had better launches this year, and those were FIFA 20 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
- Pokémon Sword (Nintendo)
- Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (EA)
- Pokémon Shield (Nintendo)
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (Activision)
- FIFA 20 (EA)
- Luigi’s Mansion 3 (Nintendo)
- Pokémon Sword and Shield: Dual Edition (Nintendo)
- Death Stranding (Sony)
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Nintendo)
- Mario & Sonic At The Tokyo Olympic Games 2020 (Sega)
Did you get any of those titles last week, too?
