Halo: The Master Chief Collection has finally launched on Steam today, and it is already one of the most played games on the digital gaming service.

On Steam’s webpage, The Master Chief Collection, at the time of writing this, is the fourth most played game, with over 130k players, while at its peak today, it was played by 161k gamers, surpassing Destiny 2 and Grand Theft Auto V. Earlier in the day, Kotaku reported that the collection was the third most played game of the day on the service.
The collection was highly anticipated as it was the first time a majority of the Halo games would be made playable on the PC. Currently, only Halo: Reach is available in The Master Chief Collection.
Bungie has promised to patch the other games in the collection, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo 4, into the Steam version at later dates.

Halo Reach serves as a prequel to the original Halo: Combat Evolved. It centers on a squad of Spartan soldiers stationed on a foreign planet and their battle against an alien Covenant army. The game was praised for its graphics, gameplay, and engaging campaign mode, and so it’s not a surprise that it’s Steam launch has drawn in so many players.
The full Master Chief Collection is available on Steam for $40. There’s an option to purchase Halo: Reach separately for $10.
