Sucker Punch has revealed that Ghost of Tsushima‘s open-world won’t have waypoint so that the player’s experience will be as realistic and immersive as possible.

The tiny yet so important detail was spotted by VG247 and revealed by Art Director Jason Connell in a developer diary published in October, way before the latest trailer for the PlayStation 4 exclusive that was aired during The Game Awards 2019.

“We really want you to have that choice of ‘Hey, that cool bamboo forest over there, I really wanna check it out. I wanna head in that direction and see what it is.’ There’s no waypoint,” said Connell. “There’s nothing that says ‘Go here and look at this bamboo forest,.'”

“Hopefully, we’re presenting something that’s beautiful and exotic – that’s different than the current place that you might be in – and that will come at a world choice. That’s your adventure choice.”

On top of that, Sucker Punch’s artist also revealed that the game is going to be an “action-stealth game.” We’ve yet to see that ‘stealth’ component in action, but considering that Ghost of Tsushima is a game about samurai, this was expected.

At The Game Awards, it was revealed that the open-world action-stealth game is set to be released in Summer 2020. With The Last of Us Part II coming on May 29, 2020, Sucker Punch’s title is likely launching between late August and early September next year.

The two titles are strictly connected, it seems, since rumors have been floating around that Ghost of Tsushima had been internally delayed after The Last of Us Part II was shifted from the original February 2020 release date to May.
