The promised overhaul of Ghost Recon: Breakpoint has hit a snag, as a big update that was set for release on Dec. 18 has been delayed. It is now set to be released in the “latter half of January,” and the news hasn’t been met well by the fans.

As announced in a post on Reddit, the delay is a result of the team wanting to ensure the quality of the patch, saying, “Our goal is to deliver you polished content and meaningful bug fixes, to do that we need a little more time. This means that the Terminator Live Event and the fixes referenced in the monthly update will be coming to you in the new year.”

The update was set to bring a ton of big fixes, balancing, and overall performance enhancements to the game, as well as the Terminator Live event. All of these have now been postponed to next month by the dev team.

Ghost Recon: Breakpoint released with a multitude of issues, and the game suffered as a result. With its rough launch, Ubisoft announced a plan to overhaul the entire game to bring it to the level that players wanted it at. Since, then the game has received a couple of big updates, including Title Update 1.0.3.1 at the end of November, which brought fixes to the A.I., audio, gameplay, camera, and weapon system.

But it doesn’t seem to have been enough, so far, to placate the playerbase, and this new delay certainly doesn’t help. Fans feel that the updates to the game are too few and far between, and would rather see the game receive smaller, weekly updates for the game to have this consistent feeling of improvement.

While these massive updates are steps in the right direction, perhaps Ubisoft needs to break them down into smaller installments to help keep the game alive.

Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is now available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
