Looking to gather the new items for Patch 5.2’s crafted battle gear? Final Fantasy XIV‘s Patch 5.2, Echoes of a Fallen Star, adds a new tier of crafted battle gear. New gear means new recipes, and new recipes mean new rare mats to be gathered.
Gathering Requirements
You must be to be a level 80 Miner or Botanist in order to gather from the new nodes. You’ll also need to have purchased the folklore books for Norvrandt. You may have unlocked these earlier in Shadowbringers, so check your Botany and Mining Log to see if the new nodes appear. These gathering books are available from the Splendors Vendor in Eulmore in exchange for Yellow Gatherer’s Scrip. The mining nodes require the Tome of Geological Folklore, while the botany nodes call for the Tome of Botanical Folklore.
Gear requirements for these items are relatively low. Your Perception needs to be above 2140 to have any chance of collecting an item. Some nodes will grant you bonus gathering attempts. You’ll want to stack as much GP as possible so you can use skills like King’s Yield II or Blessed Harvest II to boost your haul.

Gathering Alarm Macro
You can set up an in-game alarm to alert you when each of these nodes becomes available. Select System > User Macros, and paste the below text into the textbox. Right-click the macro’s icon to turn on these alarms.
