More Pokemon news is on the way, as a Pokemon Presents has been announced for August 8, 2023. While The Pokemon Company hasn’t revealed any details about what will be revealed during the show, a few likely candidates will be making an appearance, most notably, the upcoming Pokemon Scarlet & Violet DLC.
The Pokemon Presents showcases exist outside of the Nintendo Directs, as was a way to announce Pokemon projects on multiple platforms. While there will almost certainly be reveals regarding Nintendo Switch games, there should also be announcements regarding Pokemon games on mobile devices, as many spin-off titles can be played on Android and iOS.

Pokemon World Championship Updates
The 2023 Pokemon World Championships are receiving new merch, while Yokohama will receive several art installations to celebrate the event, along with a Pokemon Cruise available for people to visit. If you’re part of the 99% of the Pokemon fanbase who won’t attend the event, feel free to skip this part.
Pokemon: Path To The Peak Coming August 11
The Pokemon TCG is finally receiving the Yu-Gi-Oh anime treatment… kind of. Pokemon: Path to the Peak is an upcoming mini-series about a girl who moves to a new town and plays the Pokemon TCG with her new friends, with the battles depicted via her imagination. Pokemon Path to the Peak will come to YouTube on August 11.
Detective Pikachu Has Allies
A new trailer for Detective Pikachu Returns was shown, with the titular sleuth teaming up with a Growlithe who can track enemies via scent and a Darmanitan who can bust through walls. Detective Pikachu Returns comes to Nintendo Switch on October 8, and you can now pre-order the game on the Nintendo Eshop.
Pokemon Horizons’ English Dub Is “Coming Soon”
The shortest announcement of the Pokemon Presents was for the English version of Pokemon Horizons, as several episodes have already been broadcast in Japan. This is the successor to the Pokemon anime, with Ash Ketchum replaced by two new heroes: Liko and Roy.
Diancie, Mega Diancie, Gen 9 Starters Are Coming To Pokemon Go
Diancie and Mega Diancie are coming to Pokemon Go as part of Pokemon Go Fest 2023. Both Pokemon will be available from August 26-27. Mega Rayquaza will also be appearing in Raids throughout the event. The Pokemon Scarlet & Violet starter Pokemon will also be coming to the game in the future.
Pokemon Unite’s 2nd Anniversary Updates
New events are coming to Pokemon Unite to mark its 2nd anniversary. These include the new Panic Parade battle type, where you protect a Pokemon from wild Pokemon that try to attack it, and the addition of Mewtwo and its Mega forms as a playable hero.
Nemona Is Coming To Pokemon Masters EX
Nemona and Pawmot will be the first Gen 9 characters to come to Pokemon Masters EX, with both being playable today as part of a special event, where you can beat her to earn 3000 gems. Pawmot will belong to the new Sprint role, while Victor and Spectrier will have a new Field role when they appear in a new event on August 16.
Tatsugiri Is Coming To Pokemon Cafe ReMix
The Gen 9 Pokemon Tatsugiri is coming to Pokemon Cafe ReMix, with three different kinds available to join your staff. An exclusive summer-themed Jigglypuff is also available to download until August 25, while Tropical Vaporeon is also available in the game. The Gen 9 starters will also return to the game for a limited time.
Pokemon Trading Card Game & Pokemon Stadium 2 Are Available Now On Nintendo Switch Online
More Pokemon games are coming to Nintendo Switch Online today, as Pokemon Trading Card Game is coming to the Game Boy app, while Pokemon Stadium 2 will be available to Expansion Pack subscribers on the N64 app. It’s just a shame that neither of them are the games people actually want for the system.
Pokemon Sleep’s First Event Is On The Way
Pokemon Sleep is holding its first event during the next full moon. The Good Sleep Day event will strengthen Snorlax’s Drowsy Power, allowing you to meet even more Pokemon.
Pokemon :Paldean Wings Animated Series Announced
Gen 9 is getting its own equivalent to the Pokemon: Twilight Wings miniseries, as Pokemon: Paldean Wind was revealed. This series will focus on various characters from the Paldea region, including students and teachers from the games.
Mew & Mewtwo Are Coming To Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
The original Legendary & Mythical duo from Gen 1 is coming to 9. Mew is coming to the games on September 18 and can be claimed via the code GETY0URMEW in the Mystery Gift menu. Mewtwo can also be faced in Tera Raid battles that begin on September 1.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet DLC News
The show closed out with more information about the upcoming Pokemon DLC. The biggest reveal was that The Teal Mask DLC will arrive on September 13, while The Indigo Disk is set for a Winter 2023 release. The trailer showed off some new Pokemon, such as an ancient form of Raikou, a creature called Dipplin (a fresh evo for Applin), and new characters, like a brand new Elite Four.

The Pokemon Presents events had pretty much what everyone expected: Pokemon Scarlet & Violet DLC news, mobile game updates, and some Nintendo Switch Online additions. It’s a shame there’s still no Pokemon Red & Blue on Nintendo Switch, but plenty of Pokemon content is coming down the pipeline.
