The mythical Pokémon, Genesect, has arrived to Pokémon Go. Trainers have the opportunity to encounter this Pokémon for a limited time in A Drive to Investigate special research event. Those who participate in the event will receive a variety of items, including the chance to capture Genesect. To participate in the event, you need to buy a special ticket to access it.
The special ticket will cost $7.99. You cannot use PokéCoins to purchase it. The only way to buy is it with real-world money in the Pokémon Go application. The ticket for A Drive to Investigate will become a few days before the event releases, which becomes available from March March 20 at 8:00am to March 26 at 10:00pm in your local time. After you claim the special research event you can complete it at any time at your chosen pace.
When the ticket becomes available to purchase you want to open the Pokémon Go application and follow these steps:
- Tap the Learn More button in the shop.
- Tap the Buy button.
- A pop-up appears detailing you purchased the ticket, and it goes into your item bag.
- Before the event, you’ll receive a medal. When you open the app during the event, you’ll receive access to the A Drive to Investigate Special Research.
- The event will become available on March 20. You can complete it at any time.
For those unable to participate in the event during the allotted time, you will be able to capture Genesect later on when it becomes available as an EX Raid in April. Those who do not purchase the ticket can look forward to Bug and Steel-type Pokémon becoming available as special one-star to four-star raids, and increased activity from Normal, Fire, Water, Electric, and Ice-type Pokémon. Nincada will be appearing in five-kilometer eggs and has the potential to be a shiny, along with Karrablast and Shelmet.
This research event is an opportunity to give select trainers an earlier chance to capture this mythical Pokémon before it becomes widely available to everyone. The ticket goes on sale a few days before the event starts on March 20, and you have until March 26 to purchase the ticket.
