What to do with gold nuggets in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Gold nuggets are a precious resource.

Gold nuggets are a sacred item in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. You can receive them much like you would if you were looking to acquire iron nuggets or stones from boulders on islands. While the method is the same, they are extremely rare. For those looking to acquire gold nuggets, you will spend a lot of time knocking on boulders on your island and Mysterious Islands, which you visit by buying a Nook Miles ticket from the Resident Services center.

The most obvious choice is to sell it at Nook’s Cranny to receive 10,000 Bells. For those who unlock Nook’s Cranny and then obtain a gold nugget early in the game, it’s a great way to have a healthy amount of money on your person to use as you see fit.

For those not hurting on Bells and have enough in your back pocket, you have the option to potentially use them in later crafting materials. Of the two options, you’re likely better off keeping them in your inventory and holding on to them because you may need them later on in your game. If you sell them immediately, you won’t have access to them anymore, and gold nuggets are extremely hard to come by, whereas acquiring Bells is extremely easy, albeit, time-consuming.

For instance, Gold Nuggets are used when crafting Gold Items, Gold Armor, and other crafting tools, so it’s worth keeping them if you want to show off.

If you’re not hurting for money, keep those gold nuggets on you and continue searching around for other materials on the Mystery Islands and your own. There’s plenty to do on your island to earn more Nook Miles, so keep up the hard work.
