How to time travel in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Go forward in time in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Animal Crossing: New Horizons can feel like a waiting game, and you need to be patient. Sometimes, you need to work on a project or focus on something else because you need to wait until the next day, in real-life, to have an event occur or for new resources to come about. However, for those who can’t wait, you can modify the settings in the game and move time forward by time traveling.

To time travel in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you need to close the game down completely and shut it off. Make sure it’s not turned on at all. When you have it shut down you can freely modify the settings on your Nintendo Switch.

Go to your system settings in the main menu and scroll down to the system option. You will find the date and time options in here. Go down to them and you change the date on your Nintendo Switch. Confirm the change, and any additional time settings you may have, and then return to the main screen. After that, you want to return to your Animal Crossing: New Horizons game and time will have moved forward. Any big projects you were waiting on will finish up, and the resources on your island should return for you to gather up again, such as the iron or gold nuggets, or the stones.

Time traveling does mess things up on your island when things naturally progress. You want to only time travel if you have no other options available to you, so make sure to keep this in mind when you make this choice.
