Get your hands dirty.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the first time you will need Log Stakes is more than likely when you need to build a bridge. It can be pretty easy to get through the game until that point without really needing to explore what you can build, but it’s time to get to grips with the idea that you will need some items to build other items.

Log Stakes are an important component of bridges, but thankfully, making them is quite easy. If you go to a workbench, or open up your Nook Phone and look at the recipes, you should be able to find Log Stakes under the Housewares tab.

You will need three wood to make the stakes. You can get wood by chopping at trees with a flimsy axe. Be careful not to use the iron axe, as this will cut the tree down completely. Just bring the wood to your workbench, then you can make the log stakes.

Once they are all made, you can then build your bridge to cross those pesky rivers.
