Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Can you get fish bait in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

Here fishy fishy!
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

One of the ways you can pass the time in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is by fishing. As you walk around near the rivers and sea, you will see fish, which you can catch using your fishing pole. But what about when you can find any fish, and you want to catch them for a Nook Miles achievement?

Manila Clam

This is when Fish Bait would be useful, and thankfully you can get some in the game. To get Fish Bait, you will first need to find a Manila Clam. If you head for the beach and walk up and down, from time to time, you will see a small shadowy dot on the sand. It will spit out small jets of water from time to time.

Dig there with your shovel, and you should find a Manila Clam. When you find your first Manila Clam, you automatically learn the recipe for Fish Bait, so head straight to the workbench, and you will be able to make some. It only takes one clam to make it.

When you have the Fish Bait, go a river or the sea, open your Inventory, and select it. Choose “Scatter Food,” and you will throw the Fish Bait in the water, and this will attract some fish.
