Fish are everywhere in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Many of them are elusive creatures, and you can only find them in particular times of the days, times of the year, and they vary in fish shadow size in the water. For those looking to capture the Golden Trout, you need to do a handful of things to find it.
If you’re looking to catch the Golden Trout, you can only find it from March to May, and September to November, from 4:00pm to 9:00am. You won’t be able to find it on the ground level of your island. Instead, you need to venture to the upper cliffs of your island, which requires a ladder. You receive a ladder DIY recipe from Tom Nook after he informs you of three new villagers coming to your island and that you need to construct a bridge. After you place down the second residence, he gives you a call and provides you with the recipe to make a ladder. You can freely use it from there to access the cliffs in the game.
Once you have access to the cliffs, go to the pools of water in these locations and bring plenty of fish bait with you. You’re looking to spawn in a medium-sized fish shadow. Make sure you bring a decent fishing pole to reel it in during your adventure. You can freely sell it once you have it, or provide it to Blathers to add to your fish collection in the museum.
You want to explore all of Animal Crossing to find the many bugs and fish available in the game. After you’ve turned them into Blathers once, they should provide you and your bank account with plenty of Bells. The golden truth, for example, is worth 15,000.
