Remote Raid Passes are arriving in Pokémon Go. These nifty items allow players to take part in raids without having to be within physical proximity of the structure, which links to real-life buildings. However, because of the current state of the world due to COVID-19, many people have been instructed to remain in their homes and not leave to assist in flattening the curve of the virus. Now, players can use the Remote Raid Pass to take part in raids that they see on their map.
To celebrate the release of this item, developer Niantic will have a variety of special five-star raids made available in the game. These raids will take place for a full week, with a new legendary Pokémon featured during each interval. Right now, this is the current schedule:
- From Apr. 28 to May 5, there will be five-star raids featuring the Dark-type legendary Darkrai.
- From May 5 to May 12, there will be five-star raids featuring the Ghost and Dragon-type legendary Altered Forme Giratina.
- From May 12 to May 19, there will be five-star raids featuring the Grass and Fighting-type legendary Virizion.
All of these raids start at 1:00pm and go until 1:00pm, in your timezone.
If you want to use a Remote Raid Pass during this time in Pokémon Go, you will have the chance first to obtain them in a special bundle available in the Pokémon Go in-game shop. You only need to use 1 PokéCoin to receive it. The package includes three Remote Raid Passes. To use them, you need to be able to see a raid on your overall map. If you do, click on it, and you can participate, alongside any friends who in physical proximity to it or who are also using Remote Raid Passes.
Each of these Legendary Pokémon will not be easy to take down. You’ll need a handful of trainers to assist you in capturing them. During these event times, you also have the chance to catch the shiny version of each legendary.
