Because players cannot leave their homes as often due to COVID-19, developer Niantic has attempted to make it easier for players of Pokémon Go to play the game continually. One of the new mechanics they’ve done to help this is by introducing a new system for players to actively earn at least five PokéCoins a day by players completing daily activities. The new five daily PokéCoins adds to a total of 50 PokéCoins players can make daily, increasing it to 55.
These daily activities are things you can do by passively playing the game. These are the activities you can do once a day to earn PokéCoins without needing to have a Pokémon protect a gym.
- Make a Nice Throw
- Make a Great Throw
- Make an Excellent Throw
- Catch a Pokémon
- Transfer a Pokémon
- Power Up a Pokémon
- Evolve a Pokémon
- Use a Berry to help catch a Pokémon
- Take a snapshot of your buddy
- Win a raid
Shortly after you earn the 5 PokéCoins from your daily activities, you will need to wait for until the day refreshes before being able to do them again. If you do this enough times, by the end of a completed week, you should have 35 PokéCoins added to your total. You can increase this total by continually having your Pokémon defending gyms throughout your community.
Because of the new amount of PokéCoins players can earn each day, you want to make sure you drop off a few Pokémon to different gyms throughout your community. While having one last the full 24-hours at the gym is excellent, you want to drop off multiple Pokémon to various locations to ensure you receive the most PokéCoins you can.
It’s likely if you do this, you could end up with a few lasting there longer than you expected, forcing you to not earn at PokéCoins before the refresh timer happens. However, it’s better to drop as many as you can to try and receive the full total every trainer can acquire each day.
By staying on top of the new daily activities and ensuring you have Pokémon actively defending gyms, you should find yourself obtaining the new title of PokéCoins each day. For now, the new PokéCoin system will first be coming to Australia. Still, we can expect to see it around the world shortly after the community provides Niantic with valuable feedback.
