In late September, Sony unveiled its upcoming PlayStation Classic, a small plug-and-play emulator for revisiting PlayStation 1 games. The PlayStation Classic features two controllers and 20 different pre-loaded hits from the original PlayStation’s history, including Tekken 3, Final Fantasy VII, Wild Arms, and R4: Ridge Racer Type 4, among other games. The PlayStation Classic looks like a solid deal for sentimental fans that want to emulate yesteryear’s games on HD TVs.
The PlayStation Classic launches on Dec. 3, 2018 at $99.99, but pre-orders for the console are already available. Like the NES Classic and SNES Classic, Sony’s mini PlayStation will most likely be an enormous hit this holiday season. If you want to give one for the yuletide, you’ll have to act fast. Here’s the best places to purchase your PlayStation Classic.
Target
Target has pre-orders available for the PlayStation Classic on its official website. Shoppers who purchase the cpmsp;e online can get it by Dec. 4 with express shipping or Dec. 5 to Dec. 10 with standard shipping.
If you’re afraid the console will suffer wear and tear over the holidays, you can also pay for the SquareTrade Video Game Hardware Protection Plan for an extra $11.Â
GameStop
GameStop’s pre-orders are now available as well. The site promises that billing won’t occur until the PlayStation Classic’s shipment is processed, so if you’re interested in pre-ordering the PlayStation Classic now and paying for it later, GameStop’s listing is the best way to go.
Walmart
Walmart has the PlayStation Classic available for pre-order too, and while the site doesn’t let users pick the console up in stores, Walmart promises both free shipping and an arrival by Dec. 3.
Best Buy
PlayStation Classic pre-orders aren’t available on Best Buy quite yet, but the store promises that they’re coming soon. For Best Buy users with a My Best Buy account or a Best Buy credit card, we highly recommend waiting until the store’s pre-orders open.
Amazon
Unfortunately, Amazon’s PlayStation Classic listing is out-of-stock at this time. Check back before December to see if Amazon receives additional units for the holidays.
