Minecraft Dungeons gives you the chance to buddy up with a bunch of pals and scour through a massive map, full of levels where you earn exceedingly powerful loot. You can choose to party up with your friends, or you can play the whole game by yourself. If you plan to play Minecraft Dungeons by yourself, do you have the option to play it offline and without the internet?
There’s a catch because you can and you cannot. You do need an internet connection to gain access to the game when you first load into it. If your console or PC can directly connect to the internet to load in your profile, you should be good to go and have no trouble creating a game session. However, once you arrive at the main menu, you have the option to play in an online room or offline.
The difference between the two choices is in an online room, other players on your friend’s list who also have the game have the option to join you while you play. It’s leaving it as an open lobby, except random players who you don’t know won’t be able to enter it. The offline option prevents this from happening, allowing you to play by yourself undisturbed or in a local co-op game with friends.
You will need an immediate internet connection to have it function to any online multiplayer, such as having a PSN, Nintendo Switch, or an Xbox Live account. If you try to load into a Minecraft Dungeons match while online, and your internet connection cuts off at some point you can continue to play and your progress will carry over.
